Robert Abela

Prime Minister Robert Abela, Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Chris Fearne, and Superintendence of Public Health Charmaine Gauci will be addressing a press conference at 10.30 this morning (Wednesday), where they are expected to announce the reopening of schools from next Monday, according to several reports.

On 10th March, Government announced a raft of COVID-19 restrictions to tackle the rising spread of the virus. Along with the closure of in-house dining for restaurants and catering establishments, non-essential shops and services, as well as schools, were ordered to close their doors until 11th April.

Prime Minister Abela has said that the lifting of restrictions will take place in a staggered approach, with education being given priority.

It remains to be seen whether apart from the reopening of schools, other restrictions will also be lifted come Monday.
