HSF health plan (Malta) began empowering change in workplaces in Malta in December 2021, when they introduced a never-seen-before low-cost, high-value health cash plan benefit for companies to offer employees.
Since then, HSF has partnered with several businesses across the country – but HSF health plans’ history spans all the way back to 1873. This year marks 150 years of the Hospital Saturday Fund.
HSF health plan and HSF health plan (Malta) are trading companies of The Hospital Saturday Fund, a charitable organisation supporting medical causes across the UK, Ireland and Malta. HSF health plan’s profits are passed onto the Hospital Saturday Fund.
When the Hospital Saturday Fund was founded on 15th June 1873, the health services we rely upon today were highly different. Overcrowding, poverty and ill health were prevalent in London, so the Fund’s founder, the twelfth Earl of Meath (a Victorian social reformer) and others broke the cycle.
That’s when the Fund was born. Employees would pay a regular weekly amount on a Saturday (payday) which would help to meet the cost of healthcare for all (hence the name ‘Hospital Saturday Fund’).
Today, HSF health plan is proud to work with over 1,300 organisations in providing its health plans, covering over 187,000 people helping them meet the cost of their everyday health expenses and empowering the prioritisation of good health and well-being.
The Hospital Saturday Fund’s founders’ ideals still ring true today. As the HSF health plan (Malta) continues to grow, profits continue to allow the Hospital Saturday Fund to continue supporting causes for years to come.
