A luxurious online auction with items and experiences donated by several local and international companies will be held from 30th September to 15th October 2023, with 100 per cent of proceeds being dedicated toward the restoration and preservation of St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral in Valletta.

The auction is being hosted by Belgravia Auctioneers in support of The Save Valletta Skyline Appeal, with the main objective of reaching its €9 million target to ensure enough funds were raised to finish the restoration works of the belltower, spire and stonework of the church. It is one of three cathedrals of the Anglican Diocese of Gibraltar in Europe.

The auction’s catalogue contains a curated collection which includes stays at establishments such as the Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux and Phoenicia Hotel in Malta, and the Waterside Inn in the UK.

It also includes a private tour of the Royal Library at Windsor Castle, a round-trip from Malta to Rome aboard a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft and a week’s stay for eight people at a villa on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

Bidders will also have the chance to obtain an exclusive signed and dedicated McLaren Formula One sketch by its designer Peter Stevens, VIP tickets to major sporting events and a selection of antiques and jewellery.

Furthermore, it will also feature opportunities such as exclusive internships in the film, business, and architecture industries, such as a placement at the Maltese branch of the Hollywood SFX firm Stargate Studios.

“This two-week-long online auction will mark the fun, exciting and very fitting final stage of the Save the Valletta Skyline Appeal,” said Stephanie Laing on behalf of the voluntary team organising the auction on behalf of the appeal.

The appeal was launched in 2017, and has since gained a range of local and international donors and corporate supporters with all money raised being strictly used for restoration works.
