The MDA now refers to the Malta Development Association, with the change from ‘developers’ to ‘development’ reflecting the way the organisation has grown and expanded its focus to more sub-sectors within the property industry.
“Today, we have 11 different sections representing not only developers but also estate agents and condominium managers, to name but two,’ says MDA president Michael Stivala.
Speaking to BusinessNow.mt, he explains that the name – also reflected in an updated brand identity – was approved during the association’s last annual general meeting, held last week.
“When the MDA was established 13 years ago, it sought to unite developers to speak with one voice,” he continues. “Now that we represent the property industry in its entirety, we wanted our name and identity to reflect this.”
Mr Stivala speaks of the property sector as “a chain” that begins from the moment a project is thought of and runs through to its construction, sale, and management.
“We are looking at property in a more holistic way, even when making our representations to Government – we are looking at the whole picture. And we will continue doing so as the Malta Development Association.”
