Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines has announced a new flight schedule for the Istanbul-Malta route, increasing the flight frequency from five to seven weekly flights from 1st June 2021.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, the service will operate in the morning with flight numbers TK1369/70. While every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday the service will be in the evening with flight numbers TK1371/72.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Turkish Airlines Istanbul – Malta – Istanbul route connected the two countries with the rest of the world with 14 weekly flights.

Passengers are offered additional rights due to COVID-19 which include changes at zero fees and open-dated ticket options. Passengers whose tickets were affected by a flight cancellation are also offered a 15 per cent extra value travel voucher or money back refund as part of the COVID-19 involuntary schemes.

Maltese passengers travelling to Istanbul do not require a visa to enter Turkey. Passengers are not required to observe quarantine in Turkey on arrival from Malta.

On the other hand, all passengers travelling to Malta must, prior to boarding, be in possession of a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours of their arrival in Malta and a completed Passenger Locator Form (Including Health Declaration).

Those in possession of a valid Maltese Vaccine Certificate can use this in lieu of the negative PCR test result. The vaccine certificates are expected to be launched in the coming days.

Passengers under the age of five will be exempt from these requirements.
