Valletta Ferry Services has suspended the service connecting Valletta to Sliema for Tuesday (today) due to unstable weather conditions.
The service has been suspended as a result of the strong winds and a swell in the harbour being experienced today.
Contacted by BusinessNow.mt, Valletta Ferry Services confirmed that the service connecting Valletta to the Three Cities is still operating.
Throughout Monday evening and Tuesday morning, Malta experienced a number of isolated showers and strong southeastern winds, prompting harsher sea conditions. Windspeed is expected to vary between four and six over the coming days, according to the Malta International Airport Met Office, as at the time of writing.
Valletta Ferry Services have become an increasingly popular mode of transportation for many in Malta, with the demand for the service rising significantly ever since it became free to Tallinja card holders. Last month, Transport Minister Chris Bonett shared that during February 2024, 107,777 passengers made use of the ferry services connected Cottonera and Sliema to Valletta. This marked 64.9 per cent increase from the figure of the same month in 2023.
